There was a time not long ago when AI felt like the second coming of sliced bread.
ChatGPT dropped, and suddenly everyone thought robots were going to steal their jobs.
The doomers painted a future where AI would handle everything—from writing ads to selling products to, who knows, walking your dog.
Fast forward, and here we are.
AI is great for a lot of things, but selling?
That's a whole different story.
Why AI Can’t Close the Deal
Sure, AI can write clever headlines, spit out product descriptions, or even craft a pretty solid cold email.
But when it comes to closing a sale?
AI flounders like a fish out of water.
Why?
Because selling isn't just about delivering words; it's about connection.
Understanding human behaviour, reading the room, and knowing when to push—or when to back off.
Here’s an example.
Imagine you're trying to sell a fitness program.
AI might craft something like:
"Achieve your fitness goals with our scientifically proven methods."
"Start your journey today."
It's fine.
It sounds polished.
But it’s also generic and forgettable.
Now imagine this: You’re on the phone with someone who’s struggling to lose weight.
You hear the frustration in their voice as they talk about trying diet after diet.
You say:
"Look, I get it. It feels like nothing works, right? But this program?"
"It’s different because we don’t just focus on the physical stuff. We tackle the mindset, too."
"Let's get you out of that cycle for good."
AI can’t replicate that.
Not the empathy, not the timing, and certainly not the realness.
Manual Effort = Magic Results
This is where manual effort still shines.
Picking up the phone, having a real conversation, writing a personalised email that doesn’t read like it was ripped out of a template—all of that still matters.
Manual labour, when done right, creates trust.
And trust is the bedrock of sales.
In fact, I’m working on a guide right now that shows exactly how to use manual strategies to:
Get more clients.
Close more deals.
Increase your revenue (without doubling your workload).
And maybe, just maybe… once you’ve pocketed that extra cash, you can splurge on an AI-powered coffee maker.
But until then?
Keep it human.

Kyle
